What Causes Vomiting And Abdomen Pain While On Contraceptive Pills?

okay, so im 16 years old(female) and i went on the pill(birth control) about 3 months ago, and through this whole time ive been throwing up in the middle of the night around 3 and throwing up about 4 times, and most times when i dont i feel gross like a little bit of a feeling of throwing up but not enough to actually. Ive had some pains in my stomach maybe once or twice but thats it. I do double up sometimes but not matter if i take one or two i most likely throw up at least 1 a week and when i do its like 3/4 times. im not sure if its my pill because everyone says no so i dont go to the doctor, I was wondering if it was too strong or something. and i also had my period for one month a week the first time i went on it. My mom told me it was just getting used to my body and it will go away, but it never did. please help!

Hallow Dear,

Birth control pills are hormonal pills. They contain Oestrogenic and or Progestational hormone medicines. These hormones are known to increase the acidity in the stomach leading to pain in abdomen, nausea and vomiting. To minimise these side effects, please take the pills at the same time every day after dinner before going to bed. Some regular antacids like Pantoprazole for few days till you get adjusted to the medicines might help you.

Moreover, these hormones get metabolised in the liver. Their end products cause nausea. Medicines cannot get over this nausea; however, with the time, it gets reduced.

If even after 3 months your symptoms are being continued, and if you cannot get relief with Pantoprazole, you may think of changing the brand and composition of the pills. Probably, low progesterone group of the pills might suit you. Please take your Gynaecologists advice on it.

I hope this helps you.
