What Causes Vertigo Upon Bending Down?

i have periods of vertigo when i look down or bend over especially on the right hand side. It was real bad a couple of days ago when I would turn over in bed. My blood pressure is a little high, it s usually pretty low like 110/60 but has been 128/83. I have been eating 2 eggs and 3 pieces of bacon for breakfast, salads for lunch, a lite dinner... Coffee 8oz for breakfast... for a few days I would eat sweet potato pancakes made with eggs and bananas and onions...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vertigo can be due to different possible causes. It is most commonly related to an issue with the inner ear.

Inner ear causes include-
(1) Meniere's disease- would be associated with hearing loss and tinnitus(abnormal noises in the ear like buzzing)
(2) Vestibular neuronitis - this is the most common reason, vertigo would last for hours at a time
(3) Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)- the vertigo is worse with certain head positions

It may be best to see your doctor for assessment. There are medications that may be able to help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
