Even though the symptoms you are experiencing might be the pre-menstrual symptoms and may disappear after the periods end, but the light period and spotting might be due to pregnancy. You also have history of unprotected sexual intercourse. Sometimes pregnant women experience this kind of bleeding known as implantation bleeding in the initial phase of the pregnancy. I would advise you to go for home pregnancy test with the first urine of the morning or go for a blood test in laboratory for pregnancy which is more reliable. If it comes negative, then you can wait for next month s period. If it is as scanty as it is now and associated with same disturbing premenstrual symptoms, then you should consult a gynecologist for physical examination and investigations.
