What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post Intercourse?

for the past 24 hours, I ha experienced vaginal bleeding (bright red in color). This is after intercourse. I am a 61 year old post menopausal woman. I am up to date on my pap checks, in a monogamous relationship and have no other symptoms. I had a similar situation a year ago and was followed by my dr. and an ob/gyn. the symptoms cleared after D/C and I have had no other treatment

Hello,

After intercourse, if bleeding occurs post-coital bleeding is the diagnosis. For that per speculum examination was done and If any tear present that they need to repair. Sometimes in post menopause phase, due to the dry vagina and rough sex bleeding can occur. If needed transvaginal ultrasound can be done for further work up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Parth Goswami
