What Causes Vaginal Bleeding In Between Periods?

4 weeks ago I spotted from vagina for two weeks. It was red and brown blood and discharge. Then I stopped for a week. Then I had my menstrual cycle last week and I ve been off for 5 days. I started spotting fresh blood yesterday and today again. I haven t had intercourse. No cramping. It s when I got to restroom I find blood in my underwear or on toilet paper. What could this be?

Hello,
If you find blood stain after passing urine, you should exclude whether it is coming from the urethra. You also need a local examination by a specialist to see if there is some local cause like vaginitis, cervicitis, erosion or polyp that is causing the spotting. A urinalysis and endoscopy if needed along with a pelvic/trans-vaginal sonogram help to assess the situation. If infections are detected, appropriate medication helps to clear it. Erosion and polyps may need local surgical management. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
