Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My menstrual cycle is making me worry a bit. I ve been tracking it for a few years now using an app and have a very regular period. The past two cycles, however, have been irregular. They have only lasted for 2 days and are heavier than normal with some clotting. I have to change my tampon every hour for one full day and then my period lightens up to just spotting and disappears the next day. I m also bleeding after intercourse with my husband. Pregnancy tests have comeback negative and we do not have any sexually transmitted diseases. He is military and has been recently checked when he returned from his deployment in January. We are currently moving to another state, but I wouldn t say I m stressed out. I d actually say this has helped me relieve some stress with the changed environment. We will not be to our next location until next month which makes scheduling an appointment with a doctor difficult. Is this something to check with a doctor in person with or to just keep going and see what happens?
Hi, I think you should go for evaluation by a gynecologist. Get a pelvic examination done to rule out any cervical pathology. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin levels and a ultrasound for your uterus and ovaries done to find out the cause of irregular periods. It can be due to some thyroid disorder or hormonal imbalances.
