What Causes Urinary Incontinence After IUD Removal?

I had my coil removed under general anesthetic a couple of years ago after 4 failed attempts to remove it at the local doctors and local hospital. Very soon after i noticed I was having problems with wetting myself. It has persisted ever since. What advice would you have?

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. From the description you have given, it is likely that your bladder or urethra may have been involved during the trials for removal of the IUD. I would like to know what type of discomfort you have; whether it is a pain or burning sensation, or incontinence on stress or urge, whether it is a continuous wetting, whether you have been evaluated by any specialist and advised. Further management depends on the level and intensity of discomfort. Please see a specialist for further help. Take care.
