What Causes Upper Left Abdominal Pain, Headache And Alternating Constipation And Diarrhea?
Hi, I started with dull pain upper left stomach, that got worse. It was waking me up at night. Also headaches and now after I eat, I get so nauseous. My bowl movements change constatntly, from constipation to diarrhea. I have noticed that in my diarrhea I have what looks like black sand. What could be going on. In January I had a total hysterectomy and diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer, went through few chemo sessions.

In addition, passing black colored diarrhea is suggestive of bleeding from gastro-intestinal tract. I would recommend you to undergo an ultrasound scan of abdomen and pelvis, stool test for occult blood, and colonoscopy after consulting a specialist. In meantime, you can take fiber supplement like metamucil or lactifiber, take mild pain medication like paracetamol to get relief from headache and stomach pain, and avoid spicy food.
