What Causes Tremors In Hand While On Olmezest And Thyronorm?

My wife is a taking blood pressure medicine Olmezest beta 50 mg tablet once a day in the morning which she started six months back. Previously she was taking Olimessar H for the last 3-4 years. Since the time she started this medication (almost about the same time) she felt a little shakiness in her hand which she feels and is visible sometimes now. Could this be due to the medicine. Should we stop this medicine and what is the alternate we take to stop shaking of hand. My wife is taking thyroid drug Thyronorm 100 mg since last 10 years and her thyroid is under control. She is 50 yrs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suggestive of tremors. Based on the given history your wife seems to be suffering from tremors. Olmezest beta 50 is unlikely to be the cause of tremors. So, there is no need to stop this medication. Tremors can occur with the use of Thyronorm. However, if her thyroid function tests are normal other causes may include essential tremors, Parkinson's disease or stress must be ruled out by her treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
