What Causes Tingling Sensation On The Finger Tips Of The Right Hand?
Sure, for some time I have had a type of pins and needles sensation in the tips of the fingers in my right hand. I have been taking vitamin B12 and whilst I have experienced some lessening of the feeling it is still very present. I would like to know if I should be taking some other supplement. Thank you Catherine
Pins and needles are due to neuropathy which is abnormal function of the nerves. It can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes. Low vitamin b12 or low folate can cause this problem as well abnormal levels of vitamin b6 (either too low or too high levels).
Abnormal levels of thyroid hormone, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, certain types of cancers and infections such as shingles, can also cause this problem. You can have the levels of folate and vitamin b6 checked to see if these are abnormal. If they are then you may need supplements for this. Blood tests should also be done to assess for the conditions mentioned.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
