What Causes Tightness In Stomach With History Of Oophorectomy?

I have a tightness in my stomach that stays for a while and then eventually goes away. My right ovary was removed when my appendix was removed several years ago. The tightness seems to happen after my period (which is irregular) and when I lie on my back my left side is uncomfortable. Could this be ovary related or intestinal? It doesn t hurt, just uncomfortable and feels very bloated. I m 50 years old and have been experiencing menopausal symptoms. (I think.) Thanks for your help.

Hi,

The tightness in your stomach after oophorectomy could be related to several factors including, but not limited to:
* Gastrointestinal issues such as constipation, gas, or digestive problems.
* Menopausal symptoms, such as hormonal imbalances, can cause bloating and discomfort.
* Adhesions or scar tissue from previous surgery.
* Ovarian remnant syndrome is a rare condition where a small piece of ovary tissue is left behind after surgery and continues to produce hormones, leading to symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, and discomfort.

You'll need to speak with your doctor to determine the specific cause of your symptoms and get the proper treatment. Your doctor may recommend a physical examination, ultrasound, or other imaging tests to help diagnose the problem.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
