What Causes Throat Pain And Swallowing Difficulty?
thank you, I have problems swallowing, choke, almost aspirate food, severe pain in my throat when eating icecream and when i laugh hard i have a barking sound instead of a laugh. I have been referred to an ENT, but until i get there is this a minor problem or serious? btw none of my lymph nodes are swollen .

If your symptoms are there for less then 2-3 weeks very likely this is not something serious and will settle in a few days to one week. You will need to drink frequent small amounts of fluids, make sure avoid smoking and alcohol and you can take something to help with pain like ibuprofen and paracetamol.
If the symptoms are there for longer then 3 weeks then more important causes need to be ruled out and an examination of the throat with laringoscopy to visualize the back of the throat and the vocal cord area and area right under the vocal cords is important. This will rule out lesions in the are like cysts or tumors and also will rule out pockets in the sides of the throat (diverticula) that might be the cause of the symptoms.
