What Causes The Burning And Itching Of The Skin?

Hello good Doctor, I have had a burning and itching of my skin and at times terrible itching in my feet for about a year. No rash, sores etc. I have been to a derm., family dr. urgent care and the creams they prescribe have not worked. I have been tested for alergies which I have none. I am at my wits end. 64 yr. old female. I have had heart bypass 6 yrs. ago but in good health now. I was a cowboy and mechanic on a ranch for 40 yrs (1800 head of cattle) and now I am an office manager (my first girl job). The burning is killing me!! What do you think could be the problem?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history of burning and itching, my treatment advice is:

1. Do not scratch the skin as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
