What Causes Tenderness And Swelling Of Ankles?

just started experiencing swollen right ankle, retaining fluid, very tender straight up the back of ankle a couple inches and inside the ankle just above where tennis shoe stops. Started about 4 - 6 days ago - no known injury. I walk 3 miles daily and have for years. Any suggestions.

You have to check your blood pressure. High blood pressure can cause ankle swelling.

Check your kidney function test also.Any kidney problem can cause ankle swelling.

Right side heart failure can cause ankle swelling.
Check your blood sugar level also diabetic neuropathy case ankle swelling may be present.

In liver dysfunction case tenderness and ankle swelling may present.

Deep vein thrombosis painful ankle swelling is present.
In pregnancy some amount of swelling at ankle area may present.
