What Causes Swollen Tonsils While Suffering From Hypertension?

I am a 22 year old male with high blood pressure. For the past 6 months I ve been on coversyl 4mg and it helps a little. I have not been diagnosed but my tonsils have been swelling recently and have tonsil stones. I am wondering if I have a tonsil infection and that is the cause of my hypertension.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is nothing but tonsillitis. Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics preferably amoxicillin/clavulanate.

Do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief. The hypertension is not related to tonsils. Nothing much to worry and the symptoms will settle in a couple of days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
