My mom is 80 years old. Her feet swell at night and they look dark. Also, she goes to the bathroom a lot at night but night much during the day unless she walls a lot. She is about 5 feet tall, 160 pounds. she refuses to exercise. She has both high blood pressure and cholesterol issues.

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
It seems that your mother might be having congestive heart failure (CHF), which can cause dependent edema at feet.Long standing hypertension eventually may lead to CHF. Increased urination at night also may be due to CHF, when fluid gets absorbed at recumbent posture ,increasing renal blood flow. Nocturia is common in heart failure (HF).
Alternatively swelling feet and diuresis /increased micturition may be due to side effects of amplodipine (Calcium channel blockers group of drugs), commonly used for hypertension.

Regards
