My question is I m now getting swelling around my ankles and calls also I can hear my bones cracking from my feet knees arms everywhere. What is this? I thought I may have Lyme disease. Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Swelling around joints along with cracks (crepitations) usually suggests osteo-arthritis, a common entity seen in women nearing menopause, and is unlikely to be Lyme disease. This will respond to regular physiotherapy & exercise, along with analgesic support with paracetamol when needed. Calcium supplements are given occasionally. It will be fine if you can see a physiotherapy doctor for initial evaluation.

If the joint swelling is acute onset with significant pain/tenderness, kindly see your doctor without delay as this may need immobilization for few days.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
