What Causes Swelling On The Feet And Ankles?

Good evening, I have swelling of my feet and ankles for the last 6 weeks. I am 55 year old and overweight, 5 Foot 3 and 210 pounds. I take blood pressure medication and I am not diabetic. All my regular biometric screenings have been good year after year. The swelling is new for me. I can get it under control and I am concerned. I do my best to keep my feet elevated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Swelling of feet what you are complaining about could be due to decreased pumping of heart as seen in congestive heart failure.
Kindly get your cardiac evaluation done by undergoing Electrocardiogram and Echocardiogram at the earliest and consult Cardiologist promptly with the reports for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Kindly do not neglect since you are hypertensive and on treatment for it.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
