Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per yy complain first of all I would like to tell you that a swelling anywhere in the body is not at all a normal sign and is caused due to some or the other pathology..

As far as swelling under the jawline is concerned it is most commonly due to 2 causes:

1. Due to clogged duct to Submandibular Salivary Gland which is a major salivary gland located just below the jawline..
The clogging of the duct occurs due to formation of crystalline stones from minerals present in saliva..
It can also be due to foreign body obstructing the duct..
It leads to obstruction in saliva flow from gland to mouth and backflow of saliva occurs leading to swelling in the gland..

2.Other cause an be Submandibular lymphadenopathy in which there is swelling of submandibular lymph nodes which occurs commy due to infection while at times long standing cases can be due to a malignant condition known as Lymphoma..

You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case of clogged duct removal of the blocking stones can relieve..
In case if it is due to lymphadenopathy a Biopsy can be done to confirm the cause and treatment can be planned accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
