A week ago I removed red nail polish from my toenails and probably half of my right big toes nail was white and it don t hurt but you can easily stick a nail file all the way under it. I ve never had foot or nail fun gas before but I bought Fungi Nail at Walmart ... My question is do I have toenail fungus and does this burn since its acid ? Thank y all very much.

Hello,

I can't say exactly if your problem is an onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nail), because I would need a picture of the nail to make a better diagnosis.

Onychomycosis is a very common infection of the nail, and I would suggest you to try using topical antifungal ointments (miconazole).

Generally, it is needed also to take oral antifungals (Terbinafine or Ketoconazole) for some weeks to see improvement.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Suela Gjata, General & Family Physician
