What Causes Swelling In The Lower Legs Along With Prominent Veins?

My husband is very large; 6 2 , over weight, but has always been extremely naturally muscular. He s 65. Large boned. I recently noticed the skin on his lower legs is tight and very shiny. On the posterior of his left upper leg (thigh), the veins are markedly darker compared to right and his skin is irregular. Not like varicose veins, but regular, connected, main vein pattern. Again, right back of thigh normal, left pronounced dark veins, more like arteries. Skin appears slightly irregular, or lumpy. Hair on the anterior (front) of left thigh has more growth than right as well. Lacking a technical term, it s weird.

Hello,

Difficult to say without being there BUT distended lower and prominent veins are usually varicose veins pretty much by the definition of the term Varicose. Several things make them worse: obesity and size, age, some blood pressure medications. cirrhosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
