What Causes Swelling In The Groin?

Hi. I have had a swelling of the left groin for over 2 years with no pain . I am very active and have had 2 physicals where the doctor noticed the swelling but said it was not the typical hernia. The swelling does not change and I think it may be from injury. I stepped through a manhole cover with one left leg and immediately fell up to my groin. I also was diagnosed with diverticulitis ten years ago. I am now 51 years old. Do you have any sugestions
