What Causes Swelling In The Abdominal Area?

HI, I HAD A HYSTERECTOMY ON JAN.29. HAD IT DONE ROBOTICALLY. FULL HYSTERECTOMY. FEELING BETTER AFTER RECOVERING FROM A NECROTIC UVULA DUE TO THE INTUBATION. HOWEVER, NOTICED SOME SLIGHT SWELLING ABOUT 1 1/2 FROM MY BELLY BUTTON. IT IS TENDER TO THE TOUCH. IS THIS SOMETHING I SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Noted your history of Hysterectomy by Robotics, recovering from necrosed vuvula due to incubation. But there is a tender swelling near belly button.
The most likely cause is either a small hernia development through the post site although presenting from port but under the skin at a different position or can be a small hematoma that is being developed and getting infected.
I would advise the following in such a situation.
First of all consult your Surgeon so that a proper diagnosis can be done to as to the cause by clinical examination, ultrasound. And proper management done as per the diagnosis.
Get this done asap.
