What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Legs After A Stroke?

my sister is 56 and had a stroke on her left side, she is home now getting ot & pt it has been 2 mos. since and now her left upper leg & foot are swollen and painful to a point that her foot brace does not fit into her left shoe so she can t have pt at this time. what could be happening.

she could be suffering from deep vein thrombosis, due to decrease movements ,or venous stasis.
please go for venous and arterial doppler study & meet a vascular surgeon
