I am trying to find out how serious my swollen leg could be, as I am 3 bus journeys away from the hospital. my calf keeps swelling up, (not the foot or the ankle) it goes down over night, I sleep with my ankle higher than my hip. this has been going on for three weeks. The past couple of days, I have experienced cramp like sensations without pain, in my calf and last night, my leg felt as if it was very bruised, although the skin looks normal. I also experienced twitching under the skin. I smoke, I haven't taken any hormone tablets for over 20 years, I suffer from agoraphobia so don't get much exercise. Do I really need to go to accident and emergency department?
