What Causes Sudden Numbness On The Thigh In The Elderly?

My husband has developed a numb area on his outer thigh. He is 66, in excellent health and physical fitness, does not have diabetes. It started a few days ago with the repetitive motion of picking mushrooms for hours. Yesterday it subsided for a bit, now this morning it is still numb. What could it be and should he be seen at his doctors office?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a spine-related problem like nerve impingement. We have to rule out other causes like peripheral neuropathy also. If symptoms persist better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
