What Causes Sudden Loss Of Voice After Previously Quitting Smoking?

hello, my name is chelsie, i am a singer, and in january, i lost my voice. it seemed to be overnight i quit smoking ciggarettes occasionally 6 months prior, didnt get sick before i lost my voice. It feels like i have to force my voice out my voice range is severley restricted and it sounds very airy. im concerned because of the length of time and i have tried prilosec, hot tea, cayan pepper, honey voice exercises, and nothing has helped my voice. it soothes my throat, but doesn t help my voice i do no have money for a doc visit and waitin on ins from my job to kick in next month, any ideas or suggestions?

hello, thanks for your query, change of voice could be due to laryngitis (smoking) voice abuse, papillomas, any growth over vocal cards,vocal card paralysis. you need to do laryngoscopy for confirmation. kindly visit an ent surgeon. hope I have answered your query. all the best. take care.
