Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I walk 4x s a week. I was walking and felt like i was loosing my functioning I didn,t fall. within 5-10 seconds I felt OK. This happened tuesday and wednesday of this week. I am 74 years old. I walk 2 miles 4x,s a week. I workout with weights and a yoga class twice a week.
Thank you for your query. Would you please clarify a few things for me? 1)do you have any history of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension? 2)any history of smoking?
What you described seems like TIA(transient ischemic attack), wherein the blood flow to the Brian is temporarily reduced. This is due to a clot that passes through your circulation and impedes blood flow. This may invariably lead to a stroke.
Heart strain could lead to reduced blood flow especially if you have any of the diseases mentioned above. Either way, you need to see a doctor ASAP. This is vital to prevent worsening of ischemia (reduced blood flow). In the meantime, do not drive or exert yourself. Hope this helps. Wish you good health. Please get back to us if you need any clarification.
