What Causes Stomach Pain, Fever And Chills In A Child?
My grab daughter is almost 6 years old. After dinner last night she said her stomach hurt although she ate very little She fell asleep very quickly at 8:30. Woke this am feeling ok but not eating much and again said her stomach hurt around her waist As the day went on she was chilled and a slight fever at 4 pm her fever was 101.2. She was crying about her stomach hurting so badly she slept and by 6pm her fever was 102.7. Her pee is very clear and still wants her stomach to stop hurting. Any suggestions about what to do or to look out for?
Commonly stomach pain, fever & chills occur in kids due to food poisoning, indigestion, common cold, UTI or worms, etc.
You are suggested to get her physically examined by a pediatrician. Get her Urinalysis (R/E, C/S), Stool (R/E, C/S), CBC & required imaging tests be done.
Her treating doctor may de-worm her if needed. Her treatment will depend upon the clinical examination & pathology detected. She may need antibiotics & analgesics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
