What Causes Stomach Cramps And Foul Smelling Bowel Movement?

My feces sometimes smells like marijuana but I have never smoked or ate. And when I wipe or look at at the toilet there is a yellow residue even if I didn’t pee. I had extremely bad stomach cramps, and my doctor thought it was my appendix because it hurt my right side lower side and back and the pain would radiate to other spots.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

At first instance, it seems that you are suffering from gastroenteritis. If possible get stool routine micro examination done to rule out bacterial or amoebic infection. Otherwise, you can try the antibiotics course of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole as empirical therapy.

Before starting therapy get an ultrasonography of abdomen done. If ultrasonography is normal, and antibiotic therapy resolves the symptoms then no need to worry. If still the problem is there consult a surgeon for endoscopy or barium meal test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
