What Causes Stomach Cramps And Breathlessness During 28 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

I am 28.4 weeks pregnant and having a really hard time breathing off and on but more having troubles than not. And also my stomach is cramping very severely off and on as well. Its sharp pains in my stomach more focused towards the center. And my chest just feels heavy and congested in a way I guess you could say. Is this normal?

hi,
I understand your concern.
* In pregnancy mother's digestion is hampered due to hormonal effect on intestines/ bowels & in later months a well grown baby presses the bowels to cause mechanical problem in bowel movements.- making them sluggish in movements. Similarly digestive enzymes can not reach food in intestines in time & so digestion is also hampered. The undigested food remains in bowels for long time gets fermented to produce gasses. thus creating indigestion & bloated abdomen with constipation & pain in abdomen& absorb water from it to make it dry & constipated.
All these changes in digestion in digestive system can be managed by
- taking small & multiple servings of food every 3 hours. To manage a well balanced eating.
- using food in natural form as for possible/ avoid processed food.
-Regular exercises/ walking under expert guidance.
- drink plenty of clean water & have high fibers in diet,
- Apart from this possibility of bacterial/ protozoal/worm infestation needs to be detected & treated specifically.
* breathlessness- this is also normal finding in pregnancy with low hemoglobin .Haemodilution & hampered breathing due to sluggish movements of diaphragm .
A bloated abdomen adds to it & breathlessness becomes problematic.THis can be managed by-
- having iron, protein vitamin B complex & c rich diet. Take Iron supplements avaialable in market.
- learn breathing techniques in pregnancy by expert.
-Follow ideal life style.
- Apart from this investigations to note anemia ( Hb% ) Consultation of a chest specialist to detect & treat Chest infection are needed.
SO though digestive problems & breathlessness are due to bodily cahnges in pregnancy... they can not be neglected & have to be managed by self efforts/ doctor's help.
Thanks.
