What Causes Spotting In A 46 Year Old Woman?

Hi. I m a healthy 46 year old, married, Caucasian woman. Lately, I ve been getting light pink stains in my panties. No, it s not blood. It is a deep fluorescent pink that doesn t change color as it dries. When I take them off, there s a smallish stain. If I leave them in the laundry pile for a couple days, the stain spreads and stains other clothes.... I can t find any reference to this condition anywhere.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to your symptom, the possible causes are :
-Intermenstrual spotting mixed with vaginal discharge.
-Local lesions like cervical erosion, polyp, etc.
-Vaginal infections, etc.

If the symptoms are persisting, better to consult your gynecologist once and get examined. Clinical examination and ultrasound may help in finding the possible cause of your problem and treatment can be taken accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
