What Causes Sporadic Choking Sensation In The Throat?

hi doctor i am a 44 year old male that has a concern for my health.. i have been severely stressed over the past year having lost my mother due to cancer... since that time i feel a choking sensation in my throat from time to time, however when i eat it goes away... i went to a doctor and he made me do a blood test the blood work came back good... he said it could be anxiety .... now my heart just races off from time to time and my blood pressure went up ... My BP is normally 117/76 and heart rate is between 72 and 90 beats a minute ... i got so scared i was rushed to the hospital and was told after an ECG was done that i was fine .... another blood test was done and was told nothing is wrong with my heart ..... i work really long hours and my first meal at that time would be after 9 at nights .... now my day starts of with Quacker Oats and then fruits.... lunch time would normally be a salad and evening times would be something light ... in my mind i feel i have acid reflux because of my previously poor eating habits and feel this is contributing to the palpitations i now feel from time to time.... one time i feel like lightening moving from the tip of my left hand to my heart (not often) and then a few time i felt like my genitals were numb ..... of late i find myself a bit constipated and find i have allot of gas (flatulance) and feeling gas in my stomach often and feel hungry quite quickly .... and now i take an aspirin a day and find that my heart is beating really soft ...... my blood pressure is now 125/90 and heart rate is 82bpm ..... this is unusual for me ... and i do have the virus at this time ...please advise

Hello,

It looks like you are not eating properly & thus you are having acid reflux, gastritis & discomfort with flatulence.

Take food in proper time & in adequate quantity. Neglect will only result in causing ulcers. Initially, you can take enzymes (Aristozyme), antacids & PPI's so that you are relieved of your symptoms. But do not get dependent on the medications. Once your system starts functioning well stop taking medicines.

Stay away from addictions if any. Addictions may lead to nerve weakness causing numbness or shaking (tremor). Addictions (smoking, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine or entertainment drugs) often lead to heart symptoms like arrhythmia complicating to Sinus tachycardia, Atrial fibrillation or Atrial flutter, etc.

Stress and anxiety, working long hours, a sedentary job may trigger palpitations. Sometimes, palpitations can be indicative of developing coronary artery disease. Though ECG shows normal report get a lipid profile done so that you can get control over the triglyceride & cholesterol level at an early stage. Get treated in case some pathology is detected.

Maintain body weight as per BMI. Avoid oily spicy food. Eat home made food. Choking sensation will go away when you start taking antacids & PPI's.

For constipation take laxatives at bedtime or regulate it by increasing fiber in your diet, take raw & ripe papayas, it will effectively move the bowels. Stay well hydrated. Take adequate sleep.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
