Hello,

Soreness in the ears is commonly due to cold, allergies or sinus infection can block the tubes in your middle ear. When fluid builds up and gets infected its called otitis media. This is the most common cause of ear pain. However, ear pain can also occur due to presence of wax. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, to detect the pathology so that you can be treated accordingly.

You may need to take a course of antibiotics so that the infection gets healed. Take pain relieving medications like Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS after food for relief. Get X-ray PNS done to detect any nasal deviations that may need corrections. Infection left untreated may cause middle or inner ear issues like tinnitus, balance problems, vertigo, perforation (partial / complete) etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
