Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I used to swim everyday, however since over 2 years I start to sneeze, have a running and painful nose after 4 to 5 hours of swimming. if I take Levo citrazine before or after swiming this allergic condition does not happen. however after a few days it become difficult. what should i do?
Sneezing and a runny nose after swimming can be due to allergic rhinitis and it can be due to causes like allergic reaction to irritants like pollen, animal danders, dust and mites and at times even certain trees and grasses.
If it happens after swimming it can be due to any chemicals in water and can also be due to sinus congestion is water is too cold or if the immunity is low.
I would suggest you to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like allergic tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
You can also take anti-allergics like Levocetirizine, Allegra etc along with steroid nasal sprays to relieve the symptoms. Do steam inhalations.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora,
Dentist
