What Causes Small Lumps Below The Ears Along With Hair Fall?
I have small lumps below both my ears which appeared about a week ago. I am also have a lot of hair falling out. This started about 2 weeks ago. In November I started hormone replacement. Pellets of estrogen & testosterone pills. I am wondering of these symptoms are connected. I discontinued the testosterone pills last week when my hair started falling out. That hasn t really changed anything. Please advise. Thanks!
Hello there! Thanks for writing us here. First I would like to ask what kind of swelling/ lump is there underneath your ear? If its bony, there's no need to worry because its normal. But if you can move it, it could be a lymph node which sometimes are palpable so don't worry about that too. And to the hairfall, its a normal phenomenon/ side effect of testosterone. In your body, testosterone is converted to DHT which is the main cause of hairfall. You can reduce the dose of testosterone and also have a diet rich in proteins like eggs, curd, yoghurt, soya etc. It would be alright in 4 to 6 weeks. Regards Dr Gunjan
