What Causes Sleep Apnea And Excessive Sweating?

I have been experiencing trouble sleeping so I did a sleep study which showed borderline sleep apnea and very low oxygen level (86) while sleeping. I also wake-up with tight muscles in my back and left side. When I take a deep breath and expand my lungs it feels like I m stretching muscles around my chest and back. I was given a BiPap machine and oxygen to help. I ve also been experiencing excess sweating when cleaning the house, heavy activity and after getting out of a hot shower. I am 52 years old on blood pressure and irregular heart beat meds as well as anxiety and sleep medicine. Could medications be causing this or something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sleep apnea is one of the commonest presentations of underlying stress and anxiety. Excess sweating is hormone imbalance from certain medicines used for high BP (blood pressure) and irregular heartbeat.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
