What Causes Shoulder Pain After Getting Hit By A Basketball?

Last night I was taking down my grandsons basketball down. Its an official size you fill with sand or water. It came down and hit my head then shoulder then hit the ground. My head seems fine, my shoulder hurts more. Should I get an x-ray to make sure there is no internal bleeding?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to the injury. I suggest to use anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain. I also recommend using cold compresses and maintain the area elevated. If the pain continues you can do an X-ray for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
