What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Fatigue After Taking Prednisone?

I just started taking prednisone for significant arthritic & neurogenic pain. The scrip is 20 mg 3/day for 4 days, 2/day for 4 days & 1/day for 4 days. I am about to take the fourth dose and am having significant SOB and really profound fatigue. I take amiodrone prophylactically for prior episodes of atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation, both resulting in serious CHF. The largest dose of prednisone I have had previously was for poison ivy and was pretty small. Should I check with my doc to see if he really intended this large a dose? I read that the amiodarone can potentiate the prednisone & Prednisone reduces the effectiveness of amiodrone.

Hi,

There can be an allergic reaction to this inhibitor of the immune system used to treat these sort of symptoms. This is a standard dosing regimen for prednisone. Allergies to it are not common. There are other steroids that could be used and generally, it is the only one that the body reacts to and not all of them.
