My mother is 84 years old. She has been having problems for months with getting spells where she feels a flush and gets a little short of breath, and must sit down or lie down immediately. Once she is sitting down or lying down, she feels better. She started to slowly gain her strength and stamina, but then became sick with a cold virus, and now she is doing worse than ever with re-experiencing the symptoms of weakness, shakiness, out of balance. What are some of the top things we should be looking into? We had here in Emergency / hospital a few months ago where they checked her blood and heart, and found all okay and released her. Then she went to her own Geriatrics doctor who proceeded to ask questions, fill out a computer screen, and had no idea what is causing this, so basically, that was that. The geriatrics doctor has done no further follow up, questions, research or anything to try to understand this better. But my mom - and us, her family -- are at a loss on how to help her. I can t believe that suddenly she became sick and we should all just sit around and watch with no ideas on what to follow up on. Can you help give us clues?
