Hi,
There are many reasons for
chest pain. I will categorise them according to systems -
Cardiac
Abdominal
Musculoskeletal
Lung
Usually, the most alarming cause of chest pain is cardiac chest pain and it is always a good idea to get an ECG done of any kind of chest pain to rule out a
Heart Attack.
An ECG would usually help diagnose or rule out other causes of chest pain as well.
If an ECG is clear and there are no other signs pointing to cardiac chest pain, it would be a good idea to rule out other causes.
Most commonly, a
peptic ulcer or acidity can cause chest pain.
A muscle or
soft tissue injury may cause chest pain as well. It would be a good idea to try icing the area for about 5 minutes to see if the pain reduces.
Some lung diseases like
pneumonia may cause chest pain as well. In these cases, one may also present with cough along with the chest pain.
Do see a doctor in case the chest pain persists.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
