What Causes Sharp Pain In Hip And Shin After Taking Steroid Shot For Knot In Leg?
My wife had a knot come up in her leg above her knee over six months ago. Dr s thought it was an overworked quad and gave her steroid shot. This happened twice. Well it has gotten progessively worse. Now she has pain through her hip, shin and leg and sharp pain to the touch. Her left leg has also swollen to twice the size of the left and is turning red under the knee and feels hot. What do u think this is and what should we do?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sirisha's Response
Usually for muscle knot that is painful the treatment is Rest, physiotherapy, massaging and stretching exercise under expert guidance along with balanced diet and proper maintainance of hydration of body, and taking breaks from usual hectic routine.usually steroids are not given at all.It is better she should be immediately taken to a qualified orthopedician who can suggest line of treatment including the referral to physiotherapist. She needs lifestyle changes that includes diet and exercise daily for 30 min, getting massage done for the body at regular intervals, ensuring proper sleep, doing proper breathing exercises, and meditation for atleast 10min daily.
