What Causes Sharp Pain In Chest And Back While Sleeping?

For years now, at least 5, I have random evenings where I wake in the middle of the night experiencing pretty sharp pains that feel connected to both my back and through my chest, the pain can become MUCH more sharp when I inhale, and I ve noticed a direct correlation between this pain and days where I might lie down for longer than other nights. This can also happen if I have a random lazy afternoon, or am home sick with a cold. I find myself lately taking 3 aspirin pills up to 3-4x per week due to pain. What is wrong with me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain you are feeling seems to be due to chostocondritis, however, I would recommend to run chest x-ray in order to evaluate the function of the lungs and rule out other chest pathologies.

Meanwhile, just take paracetamol alternating with aspirin (if aspirin is not giving any side effect).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
