I have a friend. She is having severe tired/sleepiness for 6mo. to a yr. She is on medicaid so the wheels turn very slow if at all. It is hard for her to function and carry out a daily routine. She does have thyroid prob. Hypo. They are slowly addressing this. Last test tsh was 54 and the doc said that the line was at 4. I don t get that but that is a heck of a difference. Now she has had a slight period but it has turned into 5-6 weeks of continual bleeding and now it is very heavy. They are getting an ultrasound on next Fri. to check uterine lining. My friend is getting more tired, hasn t much patience with anyone esp in the morning. She just can t even find the energy to get her 10 yr old from school. She wants to get out and find a job again since her elbow surgery 11 months ago but she is just flat down for the count. She also in the last 5 yrs had an undiagnosed case of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever for nearly 2 years and almost died. I know this all sounds crazy but I ve been going to the Dr. with her. I ve been appalled at the Medicaid decisions and rules. If you can open my or her eyes to something I would be grateful.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. *First of all she should stabilise her hypothyroidism taking levothyroxine. *Hypothyroidism may be cause of excessive bleeding . *She should be checked for iron deficiency anemia since she has long history of excessive bleeding and should cure it taking iron. *Both hypothyroidism and anemia cause chronic fatigue. *if still bleeding persists go for gynecological consultation. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
