What Causes Severe Pain Under The Left Breast?

Is stomach cancer carried in the family? I had a terrible pain under my left breast last night woke me up. So far I ve had breast cancer left breast over 5 yrs. ago and a heart attack 3 yrs ago with angina, this is new now I have increasing pain under left breat towards the back. Should I be calling my doctor? Why on a Sunday?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Your presentation of pain and its radiation could be associated with a gastric abnormality (e.g. ulcer, etc.), and possibly even a cardiac event. But the only emergency investigation required at this point would be an EKG (ECG), to rule out a cardiac event. If at all the pain was due to an ulcer (supposedly) then you can wait to meet your doctor, not too long though.

But in the meantime, avoid stressing, drink plenty of water, avoid smoking, alcohol, spicy/fried/oily food, and vigorous forms of exercise.
