What Causes Severe Pain In The Chest?

My wife is having sharp chest pains. She says its been ongoing for a week now. Some are dull and then others are very sharp. She says they are on her left side above her heart. She currently is on her menstrual cycle and she says she has flu like symptoms.

Hello,

If your wife is having flu like symptoms and the pains are worse on movement or touch very likely she is having muscular pains and paracetamol and ibuprofen together can be used.

If the pains are not affected by movement or touch but instead she experiences shortness of breath or heart pounding she will need to see a doctor as flu can also cause lung infection or affect the heart. This is very rare but is worth considering if no improvement or any worsening or the pain does not seem typical of the muscular type pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
