What Causes Severe Nose Bleeding?

I had a sudden massive nose bleed that lasted about 3 hours. I made it to the doctor and they packed my nose. I left the packing in for 6 hours. When I pulled it out everything seemed just fine., no dripping, nothing. Both nostrils were involved. Nothing precipitated it. What might be a possible cause?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Mosr common this is caused by small capilaries in nose that breaks due to sneezing or cough. Also, high blood pressure is common cause as well and it should be regulated. Other causes are rare and include clotting disorders and tumors. If this happened just once, you should not worry, otherwise, you should do MRI scan and ENT refferal.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
