Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, I m 11 weeks pregnant and for one reason or another tonight (well Sunday late afternoon) I ve feeling feeling extra nauseous and am actually vomiting. I can seem to hold anything, not even water down, should I be concerned or give it some time to pass? Thx
Most cases are mild and do not require treatment. Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy usually resolves spontaneously within 16 to 20 weeks and is not associated with a poor pregnancy outcome. However, persistent vomiting and severe nausea can progress to hyperemesis gravidarum if the woman is unable to maintain adequate hydration, and fluid and electrolyte balance. Advice: 1. You should rest; eat small, frequent meals that are high in carbohydrate and low in fat. 2. Avoid any foods or smells that trigger symptoms. 3. I know drinking water is difficult but try to drink tea ..and is you are stable drink water or orange juice
When symptoms are persistent, severe and preventing daily activities,go to your specialist and only he can give medications
Hope this information is helpful to you Best regards
