Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having knee pain for about 4 months (no injury) now that has progressively gotten worse to the point of waking me up every night. It mainly hurts when I m inactive/sitting and when I have to bend. I had an xray done about a month ago but the doctor said he didn t see anything wrong and said he could refer me to a physical therapist. I asked if there are any other tests he can perform to determine the cause and he said no. Is there really no tests that can be performed? Thanks so much!
Hi Welcome to healhcaremagic After going through your query I concluded that you probably having reactive arthritis as you have rest pains and your x ray are normal. It occurs after some other disease such as fever and diarrhoea. There is no direct test to diagnose it. However ESR is helpful. Rheumatoid arthritis test is helpful in ruling out rheumatoid arthritis. I generally treat my patients of reactive arthritis by injection triamcilone intramuscular weekly till pain subsided to the maximum of 5 injections with good results. Analgesic such as ibuprofen are used for pain relief. You can discuss your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. You can also write to me directly on below link: https://www.bit.ly/askdrsudhirortho Wishing you good health. Take care.
