Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
This summer, for a yet unknown reason I started to get really itchy skin, especially on my legs. I began getting rashes from scratching and they started spreading to my hands and arms. I went to a doctor, but they prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment USP, 0.1%. and it hasn t helped with the itching. What can I apply on my skin or what do you recommend me doing? Also is there anything that will help with the scaring I got on my legs due to scratching?
Symptoms of severe itching on legs seems to be due to many reasons like -side effects or certain medicines - allergic reaction - contact dermatitis - sensitivity to sunlight and systemic conditions
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take anti-inflammatory medication such as Zyrtec one a day. Apply cold compresses to reduce the itchiness and inflammation. Drink plenty of fluids. Maintain proper personal hygiene. Avoid touching or pricking rashes and apply calamine lotion to soothe them. Avoid application of any hard cosmetics.
